Molton Brown began as a hair salon in London in 1973. Co-founders Caroline Burstein and Michael Collis named their new venture after South Molton Street, the fashionable Mayfair road where the first store was located, and Burstein’s parents’ boutique, Browns. During the 1990s, Molton Brown expanded its scope to supply leading hotels and resorts with beauty products, and, in 2005, the Japanese cosmetics company KAO acquired the brand. Molton Brown creates its distinctive product line by sourcing exotic raw materials from around the globe and fashioning them into rare and aromatic body and bath treats in its U.K. plant. Owing to its exclusive nature, the gels, lotions, fragrances, candles and other products are popular choices for luxurious gifts for both men and women. Molton Brown sells its products through its own outlets and at retail and department stores in about 70 countries around the world, and online through its web store. Customers include the world’s leading hotels, and Molton Brown has received a Royal Warrant as a Supplier of Toiletries to Queen Elizabeth II.
